Plumtree Close, Hout Bay

Change of ownership, newly weds. International couple and a moderate budget.

Part one of assignment – to erect a perimeter fence and secure the property with an electric fence atop of this.

Mountings were cast for support of the galvanized mild steel tube uprights.

The fence was primed and painted on site.

Meanwhile general maintenance to the window putty up and down stairs, sanding of woodwork and painting of walls.

The upstairs level, the main en-suite level, had everything stripped out. Carpets and the old bathroom. The upstairs level had a cast concrete floor. The owner opted for tongue and groove pine flooring. The finished result was warm and pleasing.

The upstairs en-suite was stripped of all tiles and cabinets and got a dark, Cemcrete make-over. This is bathroom one of three.

Meanwhile, downstairs, we are sanding and sealing pine ceilings, painting walls, belt sanding floors and applying Cement Screed to the 2nd and third bathroom walls and floors.

The 2nd bathroom gets a medium grey screed applied, the third one gets a white screed applied to the wall, which later receives an oxidizing acid stain. The light plays in an interesting two tonal way on the oxidized stain.

The kitchen walls receive Cemcrete and the floors are belt sanded and sealed. This couple opted for the Ikea ‘restaurant style’ kitchen.

There were various projects happening on this site at any one time. The errection of the fence and electric gate with security fencing was as intense as the house inner with the bathrooms, kitchen and flooring. There was a large amount of wrecking of paving to install conduit. We had been working on constructing an outdoor entertainment area as an extended deck area near the pool.
